a real film set experience.

2 weeks ago I got to be a part of a 'real' film crew to shoot a short film. We got to film in some really cool locations and overall it was a total blast!

a real film set experience.

I'm in Maine right now, far from home, but I didn't expect to find myself here.

Two weeks ago, very early in the morning of May 15th, I left for New Hampshire to shoot a short film with a group of friends, many of whom I had only met earlier this year in Georgia at the Christian Worldview Film Festival.

From some reason adventure has been... calling.

Surprise wrap party for the short film 'No Games'

To be frank, I never saw 2025 turning out how it has so far. God has worked in ways I never would have dreamt of.

I wanted to do a monthly newsletter every month this year but oh how the time flies. I need to stop making promises I can't keep. While I enjoy writing more and more it takes time, like every good thing. There comes a point when you reach a dilemma. Which of the many creative, social, or work related events will you cut to make time?

Time... what an infinitely finite, priceless yet freely given commodity that we fail to give back to the One who bestowed it on us. If only we spent more of it pondering the One who bestows time itself.

Speaking of time, I have the beginnings of a new video sitting on my computer. It's new, different, something special, but I feel overwhelmed. I'm unsure of where it needs to go. If it should go on. What if now isn't the right time?

It's been 6 months since I dropped my last vlog. For some reason I'm hesitant to pick the camera it back up. Maybe it's that I want to convince myself that my absence was worth it.

King Solomon had it right when he wrote: "For everything there is a season, and a time for every matter under heaven..." So even when I don't necessarily know what season I am in, I can trust that God has it all worked out... and enjoy the journey.

I lift my eyes up to the hills... From where does my help come from? My help comes from the Lord.

So why am I still up in Maine? Where and when can you watch this mysterious "No Games" short film that I helped shoot? What is going on with my feature film Betty Fleetfoot?

Good questions.

I'm still in Maine because we are planning on shooting a second short film later this week for the CWVFF 48 film race. Unfortunately, I won't be able to share either of the films for a little bit because they get to premier at CWVFF (for the 48 hour film race) and at the 168 Film Festival for No Games.

What I can do is share BTS pictures!

One more for good measure

It was one of the coolest experiences being able to work with other people on a "more official" film set. My role was grip but I got to do a lot of random things which I enjoyed! I may have even made it in as an extra in one scene. 🤫

Seeing everyone work together to make the short film as good looking as possible was inspiring. While I wish I could say I've made leaps and bounds on the Betty Fleetfoot screenplay rewrite, I've not ... yet. And that's okay.

There is a season for everything. You never know where you might find yourself if you step just a little outside your comfort zone.

So, till the next post, video... or film ...
